Job Description

Sun Control Landscapes is a family-owned landscape company serving the Phoenix Valley for 15+ years. We specialize in high-end outdoor living transformations including custom pavers, artificial turf, outdoor kitchens, BBQ islands, fire features, pergolas, landscape lighting, and complete backyard renovations. We are looking to add a skilled Landscape Designer / Sales Consultant who can take a client's vision, turn it into a professional design, and help close projects from consultation to completion. This is a commission-based opportunity designed for someone who has the experience and confidence to meet with homeowners, create buildable designs, present solutions, and help sell high-value landscape projects. Who This Role Is For We are looking for someone who understands Arizona landscapes and can confidently communicate with homeowners.
Ideal candidates:
Have 2+ years of landscape design and/or landscape sales experience Have strong knowledge of Phoenix-area plants, desert landscaping, and nursery availability Understand what plants/materials work in Arizona climates Can meet with clients and confidently guide design decisions Can create professional landscape concepts using the tools they prefer (3D design software, CAD, SketchUp, hand sketches, plan view layouts, etc.)
Landscape Experience Candidates:
If you have 5+ years of hands-on landscape installation experience and understand construction, plants, irrigation, hardscape, and outdoor spaces, we believe you can successfully transition into landscape design and sales. Because this is a commission-based role, we are not expecting to provide expensive design equipment, software setups, or a full design department. We are looking for someone who can utilize their own skills and preferred tools to create professional, buildable designs. As the role grows, opportunities may become available for additional support such as: Gas card assistance Additional benefits Potential company vehicle opportunities Responsibilities Sales & Design Deliverables Meet with homeowners for initial consultations and site walks Understand client goals, budget, and vision Create landscape design concepts: 3D renderings Sketches Plan views with legends Other professional design formats Create itemized proposals using SCL pricing guidelines Present designs and explain value to clients Help close signed contracts Communicate confidently with clients and help overcome objections when needed Project Coordination Walk finalized designs with SCL operations/foreman before construction begins Be available for project questions during installation Communicate design clarifications to the team Identify potential change orders and communicate them in writing before work proceeds Complete final client walkthroughs and ensure client satisfaction What You Are NOT Responsible For To make expectations clear: You will NOT be responsible for: Purchasing materials Scheduling crews Managing labor Supervising installers Operating company equipment Managing company vehicles Paying for marketing or leads SCL provides the opportunity and company support — you are responsible for helping convert opportunities into successful projects. Compensation Commission-Based Pay Structure This role is ideal for someone who enjoys sales, design, and having earning potential tied directly to performance. Commission structure will be discussed during the interview process based on experience, ability, and closing performance.
