Competitive Job Summary Serves as a senior landscape architect providing site planning assistance to Economic Development (ED) prospects and communities for the purpose of helping them understand the capability/suitability of a particular industrial site or building. Interfaces closely with community officials, industrial prospects, ED regional specialists and target market specialists to produce visually appealing deliverables in a time-sensitive environment. Typical duties include, but are not limited to: Providing site analysis (soils, slopes, vegetation, drainage, streams, views, etc) and zoning reviews (setbacks, buffers, planting requirements, open space, parking, etc). Performing grading estimates and balancing earthwork quantities for the development of an industrial site. Planning development of a site for competing uses. Creating master plans for industrial parks as well as single-user concept plans for individual parcels. Producing plans using the latest computer applications that assist communities in differentiating their sites from their competitors. Performing reviews of existing infrastructure for depiction on planning documents. Working in a team environment to share responsibility and collaborate to achieve the best overall result. Other useful skills include GIS proficiency and ability to render buildings in 2-D and 3-D based on site concept plans. Supervision Received Receives minimum supervision; broad goals and work objectives determined through discussions with supervisor. Keeps supervisor informed on unique problems and assignment issues. Normally the supervisor provides only administrative direction. The incumbent acts independently to plan and carry out work. Skills and Proficiencies Skill in applying current technologies to determine site planning needs. Ability to clearly express ideas through verbal, written, and graphic methods. Ability to motivate, persuade, and negotiate positive solutions. Ability to organize multiple project tasks and develop clear criteria, guidelines, priorities and schedules. Ability to develop and review complex grading calculations for completeness and correctness. Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture is required. A Master's degree with an emphasis on land planning is desirable. Four or more years of experience in landscape architecture applied to site planning. Must have demonstrated experience in application of landscape architecture to site planning. Professional registration is desirable.
