Responsibilities Operate skidder machinery safely and efficiently to extract logs from harvest sites to designated landing areas Follow forestry and logging safety procedures meticulously to prevent accidents and ensure team safety Perform routine equipment inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs to keep machinery in optimal condition Assist with ground-based logging activities, including tree felling, tree care, and rigging when necessary Use GPS and other navigation tools to accurately locate and retrieve timber in challenging terrain Collaborate with ground crews and other operators to coordinate logging operations smoothly Conduct equipment checks before and after shifts, ensuring all safety features are functional and logged properly Skills Extensive knowledge of forestry and logging safety procedures Experience with timber harvesting, including tree felling, trimming, and care techniques Mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting and maintaining heavy equipment such as skidders, excavators, loaders, and Caterpillar machinery Proficiency in loader operation, bucket handling, and heavy equipment operation in outdoor environments Skilled in ground-based logging methods with experience in rigging and equipment repair/maintenance Ability to operate chainsaws safely for tree trimming or emergency situations Familiarity with GPS systems for precise navigation within forested areas Strong outdoor work experience with physical stamina for heavy lifting and climbing tasks Commercial driving skills for operating trucks or transport vehicles associated with logging activitiesThis role offers an engaging environment where safety is paramount, teamwork is essential, and your skills directly contribute to sustainable forestry practices.
