Job Description:
The grader evaluates lumber characteristics to determine grades using established criteria. The grader may perform other tasks involved in the production of hardwood floors including labor intensive - assembly type work. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. Essential Functions Evaluate lumber characteristics and determine grades, using established criteria. Identify lumber of substandard or special grade for regrade, recut, or transfer for other processing. Performs work as assigned by department supervisor. Notify supervisor of any mechanical or material issues. Place finished goods in the designated areas. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Skills Follow Instructions Detail Oriented Team Oriented Time Management Ethical Conduct Safety Awareness Dependable Good Communication Quality Control Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. Indoor conditions that include inclement temperatures, heat and humidity, cold and exposure to dust. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will predominantly be standing. The employee is required to be able to talk and hear, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move heavy items. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time, day shift position, Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime and Saturdays.
