Crane Operator

Crane Operator A crane operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the crane.

Essential Responsibilities:

Crane operator responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Basic maintenance of the crane, including greasing, cleaning air filters, checking hydraulic fittings, checking for leaks, keeping equipment clean etc.
• Proper site set up
• Maintaining 3-way communication
• Be able to work in all weather conditions.
• Safe operation of cranes
• Driving equipment to and from the job site
• Must be able to properly read and use a load chart. As an equipment operator, you must be able to:
• Lift at least 50lbs
• Bend, squat, kneel, twist, climb, pull, reach, and sit for long periods
• Work in all weather conditions i.e., rain, snow, wind, sun, etc.
• Wear all required PPE
• Maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time
• Must be able to read, write and comprehend instructions and information All crane operators are required to follow company, OSHA, ANSI, and DOT rules and regulations that pertain to the industry.

Minimum requirements:

Minimum of three (3) years' experience operating a crane is required. Experience in the tree service industry is preferred but not required. Valid and active CDL B is required. Valid and active state Crane license in MA is required, RI and CT state crane licenses as well as a federal crane license is a bonus. Tree industry related certifications and licenses, i.e., arborists license(s), and ISA certifications, etc., are preferred, but not required. No formal educational degree required.
