Job Description

Reliable. Robust. Ready. Viaero Fiber is seeking an Equipment Operator that has experience in operating and maintaining excavation equipment. Work will be conducted on fiber optic projects throughout Colorado and Nebraska. Candidates must have experience in operating equipment and working around underground utilities. Our operators are committed to ensuring the quality of our construction, and the reliability of our network.
Duties:
Operate various equipment including but not limited to: Backhoes, Mini Excavators, Trenchers, Dozers, Utility Plows/Vibratory Plows, Skid Steers, Hydrovacs, Horizontal Direction Drills Assist with underground fiber optic cable placement and conduit installation Perform excavation, trenching, backfilling, grading, and site restoration activities Follow utility locate markings and maintain safe digging practices around existing infrastructure Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment to job sites Work with Foreman/Supervisors and alongside crews to support network construction projects Maintain accurate records of time, work completed, equipment usage, and safety inspections Adhere to company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices Travel throughout the service region as needed and work outdoors in varied weather conditions
NOTE:
This is not an operator position where you will get in the cab and not leave for the rest of the day. Typically, our operators work with a laborer setting handholes/completing tie-ins or any other required work. You will frequently exit and enter the cab of the equipment as needed while performing job duties
Requirements:
Experience in the operation of excavation equipment (Backhoe, Mini Excavators, Skid steers, Track hoe, trenchers, Horizontal Directional Drills) around utilities Ability to verify locates, spot/expose and identify utilities after they have been located Perform daily maintenance checks on machines Ability and general knowledge in understanding for placing conduit or cables Ability to communicate effectively and working with co-workers Ability to take direction and work well with others Ability to perform manual tasks requiring frequent walking, stooping, crouching, reaching, lifting, digging, pushing and pulling Must be able to travel for extended periods of time (overnight and weekly stays required) High School diploma or equivalent required Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver s license and have the ability to pass pre-employment criminal background check, MVR check, and substance screen. Class A CDL, or ability to obtain one, is strongly preferred.
