$24.00/hour starting wage, increases based on experience
Schedule:
Monday
  • Friday primarily, some weekend work will be required. Day Shift
  • 6am-4pm / Night Shift
  • 6pm•6am
Employment Type:
Full-time, Permanent Position Summary Pattison Company is seeking Underground Miner on DAY Shift to join our team in Clayton, Iowa. This position is responsible for all aspects of raw material extraction in our underground mine, using specialized equipment to transport materials to our crushing line operation. We provide training to ensure all employees follow procedures, maintain high safety standards, and work effectively as a team. Primary Responsibilities Participate in drilling and blasting operations Scale rock faces manually and mechanically to maintain mine stability Operate underground mining equipment, including jacklegs and stopper drills Assist in mine maintenance, clean-up, and general support activities Conduct pre-operational equipment inspections and ensure proper documentation Follow all company, local, state, and federal safety and compliance regulations Maintain clear communication with coworkers and supervisors to ensure safe and efficient operations Qualifications & Requirements Ability to physically operate heavy equipment in an underground environment Understanding of rock and soil conditions (or willingness to learn) Ability to stand for extended periods (6-12 hours), bend, stoop, and climb ladders Must be able to: Stand for 6-12 hours and perform physical tasks such as bending and stooping Work up to 12-hour shifts in varying underground conditions, including damp, dimly Climb on and off equipment and ladders Work at heights and in physically demanding conditions Wear a half-mask respirator for extended periods Lift 60 to 80 pounds without mechanical assistance Strong work ethic, ability to work independently, and commitment to workplace safety Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not required Prior mining experience preferred but not required Certifications & Licenses MSHA Part 48 certification (training provided on-site) Valid driver's license required for all Pattison Company employees unless deemed non-essential to the position by HR.
