Actively support the company's Absolute ZERO safety culture through hazard recognition, risk mitigation, and proactive communication. Equipment Operation Safely operate underground mining and construction equipment including: Loaders, scissor decks, jacklegs, telehandlers, man‑lifts, and other specialized tools. Perform pre‑operational inspections, monitor equipment condition, and report deficiencies. Utilize proper body mechanics and safe‑work techniques to protect personnel and equipment. Ground Support & Infrastructure Install and maintain ground support systems including bolting, screening, and scaling as required. Assist with utilities installation (ventilation, water, air, power) and drift‑development activities. Support material movement, staging, and organization to maintain efficient workflow. Ground Conditions & Environmental Awareness Continuously monitor ground conditions and environmental factors, reporting hazards immediately. Adjust work practices to maintain safe and productive operations in variable conditions. Professionalism & Conduct Maintain a reputation for reliability, accountability, and strong work ethic. Represent NISS professionally in all interactions with coworkers, supervisors, and client personnel. Contribute to a positive, team‑oriented underground culture. Requirements Age:
Must be at least 18 years old.
Background:
Must be able to pass a Federal Background Check.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of underground mining or underground construction experience .
Certification:
Must possess a valid MSHA Part 48 Underground Miner certification (or be willing to complete refresher).
Availability:
Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as scheduled; comfortable living in a remote camp while on rotation.
Punctuality:
Arrive on time, prepared to receive assignments and begin work at shift start.
Physical Demands:
Capable of performing "heavy work" including lifting, carrying, climbing, shoveling, prying, and working in confined spaces.
Work Environment:
Ability to work safely around moving equipment, in low‑visibility areas, and within confined underground environments.
Aptitude:
Ability to understand and follow engineered instructions, apply safety strategies, and adapt to changing conditions. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Additional specialty certifications (e.g., Machine Runner, Telehandler, Scaling). Demonstrated experience in mine development, ground support, utilities installation, or underground construction.
