Job Description
The Hearth Doctor is a veteran-owned fireplace, stove, and gas appliance company with locations in Auburn, Brunswick, and Yarmouth. We are looking for a licensed gas technician who takes pride in doing quality work, solving problems the right way, and treating customers well. Whether you have years of experience or are earlier in your career with a license in hand, we are happy to train the right person. What matters most to us is attitude, work ethic, and a willingness to learn. If you have your Maine gas license and want to build a career with a company that will invest in you, we want to hear from you. This is a year-round position with strong pay, performance-based upside, and room to grow with a multi-location company. What this role looks like You will run a solo service route working on gas fireplaces, inserts, and stoves in residential homes across southern Maine. Most days include diagnostics, repairs, annual cleanings, and customer communication. Gas service is the main focus of this role. Over time, we would also like this technician to grow into wood and pellet service as skills develop. We will train you on that side of the job. Pay Pay starts at $28.00 to $42.00+ per hour depending on experience, production, and performance. We also offer a performance incentive program that rewards technicians who: Complete quality work efficiently Document jobs accurately Minimize callbacks Handle customers professionally There is also a clear path to higher technician levels and increased base pay for proven performers. Requirements Active Maine Propane and Natural Gas Technician license (required) Some experience with gas appliances or similar systems preferred, but we are willing to train the right person Strong willingness to learn and grow your skills Professional communication with homeowners Valid driver's license and clean driving record Responsibilities Diagnose and repair gas fireplaces, inserts, and stoves Perform annual cleanings and safety inspections Troubleshoot ignition systems, gas valves, venting, and controls Communicate clearly with homeowners about findings and next steps Document completed work and parts used accurately Keep service vehicle clean, organized, and stocked Grow into wood and pellet service over time Why work here Year-round steady work with no seasonal layoffs A company that is willing to train and invest in your development Multiple locations and room to grow No flat-pay ceiling for strong performers Clear advancement path High standards without micromanagement A team that values quality work and getting it right the first time We take pride in quality.
