Position Summary:
This position is responsible, as part of a team, for field installation and maintenance of gas compression equipment and compressed natural gas (CNG) refueling equipment and systems for new and existing customers. The primary competency is to be proficient with CMD equipment including programs, troubleshooting, maintenance, operation, and applications.
Compressed Natural Gas Field Service Technician Essential Functions:
Oversees and assists with the installation of compressed natural gas refueling equipment and systems in the field. Provides operational and maintenance training for the end user. Performs final inspection and testing of completed machinery prior to shipping. Provides sales support when technical demonstration and assistance is needed. Responds to service calls with remote technical support and troubleshooting. Drafts detailed notes from service trips and distributes trip reports appropriately. Utilizes analytical skills to determine root causes of failures and malfunctions. Recommends and implements corrective actions. Travels to customer sites to perform preventive maintenance activities. Records and documents site conditions to proactively mitigate unplanned shutdowns. Documents customer phone activity in call center database. Contacts and dispatches third-party service providers, as needed. Follows up with customers to verify resolution of problems. Provides 24-hour technical assistance to customers on a rotational basis, including regular weekend and holiday work. Participates in activities to verify that machinery will run safely and according to customer specifications. Performs the assembly of new products, as required. Assists with equipment operation at national and international trade shows. Assists with research and development and other special projects as required. Provides technical advice and assistance to other departments. Assists in training new service technicians and third-party contractors. Supports continuous improvement activities. Responsible for own safety. Practices only safe work habits and ensures all safety rules are followed. Responsible for keeping area clean and organized to ensure safe working conditions.
Travel:
Extensive travel may be required, up to 50%. Generally it is predictable and scheduled. CMD pays competitive travel incentives and provides access to fleet. Compressed Natural Gas Field Service Technician Competencies Strong electrical and/or mechanical aptitude. Ability to learn technical specifications of equipment. Ability to work under stress, think creatively, and adapt to changing priorities. Collaborative spirit and communication with colleagues, customers, and vendors. Must have or be eligible to obtain a U.S. Passport. Must have a current, valid driver's license. Compressed Natural Gas Field Service Technician Education and Experience Associate's degree in Electro-Mechanical Technology, preferred. Experience and/or training in engineering or technical service. Knowledge of gas compressors, high pressure gas systems, electrical systems, and electrical troubleshooting highly desirable.

Compressed Natural Gas Field Service Technician Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and routine office equipment. Physical movement is required to inspect, touch, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch or twist in the capital equipment manufacturing process. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements and ability to adjust focus. Light to moderate lifting may be required. The employee may lift up to 50 pounds. Heavy lifting occasionally. Regular, predictable attendance is required.
Status:
Full-time, nonexempt. Rotating on-call.
