JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled HDD Locator/Foreman based out of our Denver office with a valid Class A CDL and endorsements for tankers, combination, and air brakes to lead field operations on oil and gas pipeline construction projects. This role combines hands-on leadership of HDD crews with technical expertise in utility locating and coordination. The ideal candidate will be experienced in natural gas utility construction, capable of guiding operations safely and accurately, and committed to upholding the highest standards in safety, compliance, and quality.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise HDD operations and lead crews on active job sites. Operate and monitor HDD locating systems to guide bore paths and ensure accuracy. Read and interpret alignment sheets, pipeline drawings, and utility maps. Coordinate with inspectors, project managers, utility owners, and contractors to meet project specifications and timelines. Transport tools, equipment, and materials using CDL vehicles. Lead safety, quality, and compliance efforts on site, including enforcement of DOT, OSHA, and company policies. Conduct hazard identification and risk mitigation planning; review work plans and job hazard analyses with crews. Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and short-term schedules; assign resources and equipment as needed. Ensure accurate timekeeping, daily field documentation (logs, diaries, quantities), and tracking of job site issues. Manage subcontractors, including scheduling, coordination, and resolution of field issues. Maintain and oversee permit compliance and ensure permit terms and conditions are followed. Support equipment utilization, maintenance, and tool readiness. Train and mentor crew members while supporting team morale and productivity. Lead by example in supporting company mission, core values, and safety culture. Support HR-related duties such as documenting performance and addressing employee issues as they arise. Prepare and manage large volumes of locate documentation in compliance with 811/One Call regulations. Coordinates locate ticketing, schedule potholing activities, and distribute related maps and prints. Ensure accurate verification of underground utilities and proactively resolve utility conflicts. Maintain project files, emergency contact lists, and tracking spreadsheets. Travel locally to support field verification and drilling path coordination.
REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) 3-5 years of combined experience in HDD operations, utility locating, or natural gas Valid Class A CDL with endorsements for tankers, combination, and air brakes; clean driving record (DOT Medical Card required) Proficiency in HDD locating systems and utility locating tools Familiarity with Colorado 811 Rules and Regulations Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, alignment sheets, and utility maps Knowledge of pipeline safety regulations and HDD best practices Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and general computer literacy Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills Ability to work independently, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed Physically able to: Lift and carry up to 50 lbs Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch throughout the workday Push, pull, grasp, and reach with hands and arms Operate hand and power tools safely Wear required PPE including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, etc.
