Job Overview Alabama Guardrail was established in 1974 by James McKee and has been serving the transportation infrastructure industry for over 50 years. Join our dynamic team as a Guardrail Installer/General Laborer and play a vital role in constructing safe, durable guardrail systems that protect communities and enhance roadway safety. We are seeking a motivated and dependable Guardrail Erector with a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) to join our dynamic construction team. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work outdoors on diverse construction sites, utilizing a variety of heavy equipment and tools. We prioritize safety, teamwork, and a proactive attitude to ensure successful project completion. Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, front loader trucks, and dump trucks to assist in guardrail installation and site preparation. Erect guardrails accurately according to engineering plans and safety standards, ensuring proper alignment and secure fastening. Conduct utility locating to identify underground utilities before excavation or installation activities. Use construction tools and machinery efficiently while adhering to safety protocols at all times. Assist in site setup, including moving materials, preparing work zones, and coordinating with team members for seamless operations. Maintain detailed records of daily activities, equipment usage, and safety inspections. Support paving operations and other construction tasks as needed to ensure project completion within schedule. Experience Valid CDL license required; experience driving large trucks or specialized vehicles preferred. Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, front loader trucks, or dump trucks on active construction sites. Strong knowledge of construction processes, safety procedures, and site management practices. Familiarity with utility locating techniques and the use of CAT (Caterpillar) machinery is highly desirable. Prior experience in guardrail installation or roadway safety projects is a plus. Background in general construction or infrastructure projects demonstrating versatility across multiple equipment types like paving and heavy machinery operation.
