Job Description
Job Overview We are looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our demolition team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating heavy equipment for the demolition of buildings, structures, and other commercial or residential improvements. This position requires someone who is safety-conscious, dependable, self-motivated, and capable of operating equipment efficiently while working around structures, utilities, workers, and changing jobsite conditions. Duties Operate heavy equipment including excavators, skid steers, loaders, dozers, and other demolition equipment. Perform structural demolition of buildings, concrete structures, foundations, walls, and other improvements. Safely tear down structures while maintaining control of the demolition area including caution with utilities, vehicles, employees and the public. Sort, process, load, and move demolition debris and construction materials. Assist with site clearing, grading, excavation, and cleanup as needed. Perform daily equipment inspections and regular maintenance, report any mechanical or safety issues to supervisors. Communicate effectively with the demolition supervisor and ground crew. Follow established demolition plans, site-specific safety procedures, and OSHA requirements. Assist with other demolition and construction activities when equipment operation is not required. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Qualifications 2+ years of heavy equipment operating experience preferred. Demolition experience required or strongly preferred. Experience demolishing buildings, structures, concrete, foundations, or similar improvements. Proficient operating excavators and other heavy equipment used in demolition. Ability to safely work around structures and identify potential hazards. Strong understanding of equipment capabilities and limitations. Ability to perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance. Valid driver's license. Dependable transportation and reliable attendance. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to lift, carry, climb, bend, and perform physical labor when needed. Must be willing to follow all company safety policies and procedures. Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug tests.
