Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and experienced Heavy Duty Tow Truck Driver to join our dynamic team in Bakersfield. In this vital role, you will operate specialized tow trucks to assist stranded or disabled vehicles, ensuring safe and efficient recovery operations. Your expertise in automotive diagnostics, mechanical knowledge, and towing procedures will be essential to providing exceptional service to our customers. Responsibilities Operate heavy-duty tow trucks, including flatbed and other specialized equipment, to recover and transport vehicles safely. Conduct thorough vehicle inspections using automotive diagnostics and mechanical knowledge before and after towing. Load and unload vehicles with precision, ensuring proper securing methods to prevent damage during transit. Utilize manual transmissions and commercial driving skills to navigate various road conditions efficiently. Communicate effectively with customers, dispatchers, and emergency responders to coordinate recovery efforts. Manage conflict situations professionally, maintaining a calm demeanor while resolving customer concerns or disputes. Perform routine maintenance checks on tow trucks and related equipment like forklifts to ensure operational readiness. Qualifications Proven experience operating tow trucks, particularly flatbeds or heavy-duty models, with a strong understanding of automotive repair and diagnostics. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record; experience with manual transmissions is preferred. Mechanical knowledge of vehicles, including the ability to troubleshoot basic issues related to automotive systems. Prior mechanic experience or automotive diagnostics certification is highly advantageous. Ability to load & unload vehicles safely using appropriate equipment such as forklifts when necessary. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to manage conflicts professionally and courteously. Knowledge of safety protocols related to heavy-duty towing operations and vehicle recovery procedures.
