You will use your heavy equipment expertise to complete excavation tasks safely, efficiently, and in compliance with site requirements on a secure military base. Responsibilities Operate a CAT 318 excavator to move soil and perform trenching activities on an eroded landfill site. Conduct precise earthwork operations to support site stabilization and construction activities. Monitor ground and soil conditions, especially in areas affected by erosion and recent rainfall, and adjust operations accordingly. Inspect the excavator daily to ensure safe and reliable operation, reporting any issues or needed maintenance. Follow all site safety procedures, traffic rules, and equipment operating guidelines at all times. Work collaboratively with site supervisors and crew members to plan and sequence excavation tasks. Maintain a clean and organized work area around the excavation site. Adhere to all access and security requirements associated with working on a military base, including driving and conduct expectations. Essential Skills 3-5 years of experience operating a CAT 318 excavator. 3-4 years of experience in heavy equipment operation and earthworks. Proficiency in moving soil and trenching in construction or landfill environments. Strong understanding of heavy equipment safety practices and procedures. Ability to operate heavy equipment in variable conditions, including eroded and rain-affected terrain. Clean driving record (clean DMV). The role offers steady, hands-on work with modern equipment on a secure site, along with the opportunity to deepen your experience in earthworks and excavation. You will be part of a team that emphasizes safety, reliability, and quality work while providing a stable and structured setting. Work Environment This position is based on a military installation in the Fort area, requiring compliance with all base access and conduct rules.
