Full Job Description Intro:
Renewable Solar Inc is a rapidly growing solar energy contractor seeking qualified Pile Drivers to support an expanding portfolio of utility-scale and commercial solar projects. This position plays a critical role in the construction of solar fields by installing deep foundation systems that support tracker and fixed-tilt racking. The Pile Driver contributes to all phases of foundation installation, ensuring structural integrity, productivity, and compliance with project requirements.
Position Overview:
This is a contracted position subject to applicable prevailing wage requirements in Lucerne Valley, California. The Pile Driver is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient installation of driven piles for RSI solar projects. This role supports field operations through the operation of pile-driving equipment, execution of daily production targets, and verification that all installations meet engineering tolerances, specifications, and quality standards. The Pile Driver works closely with the Foreman, equipment operators, and survey/layout teams to execute planned work while maintaining strict adherence to safety protocols, environmental compliance, and site-specific procedures.
Core responsibilities:
MUST BE ABLE TO OPERATE & HAVE EXPERIENCE
with solar pile-driving equipment (PD 2 & PD 4, Vermeer PD10-PD5R, Gayk, or similar machines) Install piles to required depth, alignment, and vertical tolerances Read and interpret site layout drawings, GPS machine control systems, and grade stakes Coordinate with survey/layout crews and site supervisors Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance Follow all OSHA and site-specific safety requirements Assist crew with staging materials and general site tasks as needed Work Conditions and Physical Requirements Work Conditions This position requires performing physically demanding work in outdoor environments and under varying weather conditions. Employees must be able to safely perform assigned duties while complying with all company safety policies and procedures.
Work conditions may include:
Exposure to temperatures exceeding 100°F and below 32°F. Working in adverse weather conditions, including rain, snow, wind, dust, and direct sunlight. Exposure to uneven terrain, mud, dirt, noise, and other construction site conditions. Working at heights, in confined spaces, or around heavy equipment when required. Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working on uneven surfaces. Required use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, high-visibility clothing, gloves, steel-toe boots, fall protection, hearing protection, and any other equipment required for the task. Ability to work overtime, weekends, or extended shifts as needed to meet project schedules and deadlines. Physical Requirements To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, employees must be able to: Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly, and greater weights with assistance or mechanical lifting devices. Frequently bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, and reach overhead. Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday. Perform repetitive motions involving the hands, arms, and shoulders. Maintain balance and coordination while working on uneven or elevated surfaces. Evaluation Factors Pile Driver will be evaluated on their ability to assist their Foreman in the successful completion of jobs on time.
Pay Scale/Hours Compensation:
While contracted on the RSI project located in San Bernardino, California, compensation will be paid in accordance with applicable prevailing wage determinations. Overtime will be paid as required by law and by the governing prevailing wage regulations when applicable.
Work Schedule:
Typical hours are Monday through Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Overtime may be authorized as necessary to meet project schedules and deadlines. Pay Scale This is a prevailing wage contracted position. Compensation will be paid in accordance with applicable prevailing wage determinations for projects performed in San Bernardino County, California. Actual hourly classification rates will depend on the scope of work, trade classification, and the current Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) determination.
