(Department of Transportation) regulations Loader operation Backhoe operation Flatbed Full Job Description Job Summary Looking for an experienced driver with Class A CDL to transport heavy construction equipment on a lowbed trailer, gravel/dirt with an end dump trailer, and misc construction materials on a wagon trailer. Our truck is a 2015 Peterbilt 567 in good shape (with good air conditioning!).Heavy construction equipment on lowbed:
Will be responsible for safely loading/unloading and securing equipment for transportation to and from our own construction sites, as well as client sites for our rental business, and to repair shops as needed. Should be able to load and unload the equipment onto the lowbed, so experience with basic operation of excavators, dozers, backhoe/loaders, etc to would be preferred; training may be available if you are not familiar with all those equipment types. Experience with oversize loads would be helpful.End Dump trailer:
Will be used for loading & unloading gravels, dirt, tree trimmings, etc at our multiple construction sites, rock quarries, or dump sites. Our truck storage yard is located in West Sacramento five minutes off Interstate 5 near the airport. Start times usually depend on what needs to be picked up, where it needs to be delivered to, and by when; typically between 5-6 am. Expect 8 hours minimum daily, and 1-3 hours overtime most days. Workweeks are Mon-Friday, might occasionally need weekend work if you have that flexibility. Our jobs are private/non-union, destinations are typically within a 50-100 mile radius of Sacramento, so you will be home every night. Responsibilities Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck to ensure it is in safe operating condition, checking fluids, refilling fuel. Keeping the cabin clean and organized Switching out trailers depending on what needs to be transported Securing flatbed loads properly Maintain accurate logs of pickup/delivery times and locations, sending to the office daily Communicate effectively with our foremen, office, and clients regarding pickups & deliveries and any potential delays. Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while driving on highways and local roads. Knowledge of DOT regulations and approved local hauling routes preferred Requirements Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record Familiarity with flatbed and dump truck operations Proven experience as a truck driver transporting similar materials Ability to operate safely on the road and at construction sites in a often fast-paced environment Must be able to pass drug screenings as required by company policy.
