Job Description
Southland Construction, Inc. is seeking an experienced Finish Loader Operator to join our heavy civil construction team. The ideal candidate will have experience performing finish grading and material placement on roadway, utility, site development, and earthwork projects while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate a wheel loader safely and efficiently in a heavy civil construction environment. Perform finish grading and material placement according to project specifications and grade requirements. Load, transport, and stockpile construction materials including dirt, aggregate, sand, and rock. Read and interpret grade stakes, site plans, and instructions from supervisors and grade checkers. Work closely with foremen, survey crews, and other equipment operators to achieve project goals. Maintain proper slopes, elevations, and drainage requirements. Conduct daily pre- and post-operation equipment inspections and report maintenance needs. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations. Assist with general construction activities as needed. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of experience operating a wheel loader in heavy civil construction. Proven ability to perform finish grading with minimal supervision. Experience working on roadway, utility, site development, and earthwork projects preferred. Knowledge of grading principles, elevations, and drainage requirements. Ability to work safely around underground utilities, personnel, and other heavy equipment. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work overtime and weekends as required by project schedules
