Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and experienced Heavy Equipment Operator specializing in excavator operation for roadway construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for operating heavy machinery safely and efficiently to perform excavation, finish grading, and utility work essential to roadway expansion and development. Your work experience and expertise will contribute to the successful completion of DOT construction projects while adhering to all safety regulations and industry standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with experts in roadway construction field and on dynamic infrastructure projects that make a tangible impact on community development. Responsibilities Operate excavators, loaders, gradall machine, skidsteers, and other construction machinery with precision and safety awareness. Perform excavation, grading, trenching, and utility installation tasks according to project specifications. Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance. Follow federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures at all times. Assist with construction site setup, including utility locating and marking underground utilities prior to excavation. Collaborate with team members to ensure project timelines are met while maintaining a safe work environment. Adhere to construction grading standards and ensure proper operation of heavy equipment during all phases of roadway development. Qualifications Proven experience operating heavy construction machinery such as excavators, loaders, and backhoes in roadway or utility projects. Strong knowledge of construction utility work, excavation techniques, and grading procedures. Familiarity with federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures. Ability to perform routine maintenance on construction machinery and troubleshoot mechanical issues. Valid commercial driver's license with experience in commercial truck driving is preferred. Mechanical knowledge related to construction machinery maintenance is a plus. Construction site experience with an emphasis on utility locating, safety regulations, and equipment operation standards such as those from Caterpillar or similar manufacturers.
