An Operating Engineer or Heavy Equipment Operator drives and operates heavy equipment used in quarries, construction sites, landfills, refuse and recycling centers, or ports. Heavy Equipment may include, but is not limited to, bulldozers, excavators, paving equipment and pile drivers.
The Loader Operator is responsible for the safe and proper operation of the equipment. We require that they be committed to the total Ajax team effort by contributing to the proper completion of the work as directed by the Foreman.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Major duties include the following:
Must operate equipment to actively maximize production and quality Must keep shop informed of operating deficiencies Must perform daily maintenance, lubrication and keep equipment clean on a daily basis Must be on the job troubleshooter and communicate with the shop to find solutions to problems Assist mechanic on job repairs Perform all mechanical repairs possible using standard tools and supplies kept on the job Assist on the job as directed by foreman Keep foreman informed of on-the-job progress and any problems

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The essential functions of this position include sitting, standing, walking, climbing, reaching, bending, trunk movements, lifting a minimum of 45 lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling, low-level work, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking.
