Full Job Description Overview:

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating all assigned (military as well as Government) vehicles to include material handling vehicles such as manually controlled gasoline, electric or liquid propane gas powered forklifts to transport, load and unload from a vehicle, materials, supplies and equipment. This position executes field level maintenance activities, including but not limited to Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS), and operator level functions in support of wheel track, and other tactical administrative or support equipment. Under the supervision of the Lead/Supervisor, drives a truck, over four tons (usually 10 wheels) within the boundaries of Fort Moore.
Responsibilities:
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Load and unload truck/aircraft with or without helpers, make minor mechanical repairs and keep the truck in good working condition. Performs all other duties as assigned in support of customer contract.
MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
Standard office equipment, associated with computer applications. All required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Basic maintenance tools and equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work will typically be in a motor pool, there will be times when an employee is exposed to extreme cold and/or hot weather conditions. The employee will be required to conduct activities outdoors requiring exposure to hot, rainy, and cold conditions. Additional support requirements may be conducted in a temperature-controlled environment, with some exposure to electronic office equipment.
Regular Work Schedule:
1st shift, Monday - Friday (40 hours) 8:00am - 4:30pm.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
Must be able to operate standard office equipment, such as a computer, copy machine, and printer. Must be able to lift at least 35 lbs. May be required to wear a face mask. Must be able to properly wear all required PPE.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Must possess a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class A Four (4) years of related experience. Must be able to pass the standard background check. NACI clearance required.
EXPERIENCE
: Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment and interact with higher levels of military and government officials. Ability to work well under pressure, sometimes with short deadlines.
SKILLS:
Experience in performing Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services per the current Technical Manual Identify, track and report equipment status to include completeness of repairs and serviceability. Operates Handling Equipment per military requirements. Strong written and verbal communications skills; ability to interact at all levels. Ability to effectively manage operational workload increase. Possess high ethical standards and demonstrate professionalism. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; be able to work in a team-based, highly collaborative environment. Valid Driver's License Other duties as assigned to meet organizational/operational objectives.
