Job Description A Buck Hoist Operator safely controls and maintains temporary construction elevators (buck hoists). Their primary responsibility is to transport workers, tools, and heavy materials vertically across multi-story building projects, while strictly adhering to OSHA safety guidelines and conducting routine equipment inspections.
Requirements Equipment Operation:
Operate power-driven hoisting cables or rack-and-pinion elevator systems to smoothly lift and lower loads.
Safety Inspections:
Conduct rigorous pre-operational safety checks daily, verifying doors, limit switches, and emergency brakes function properly.
Load Management:
Monitor load capacities to prevent dangerous overloading of personnel and heavy materials.
Coordination:
Communicate via two-way radio with ground crews, site supervisors, and project managers to maintain efficient material and personnel flow.
Basic Maintenance:
Perform light mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance on the hoist machinery.
