An Operating Engineer or Heavy Equipment Operator drives and operates heavy equipment used in quarries, construction sites, landfills, refuse and recycling centers, or ports. Heavy Equipment may include, but is not limited to, bulldozers, excavators, paving equipment and pile drivers.

A well-established company in the Sheldon area is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join their team. This position is responsible for supporting landfill and recycling operations while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and productivity.
Responsibilities:
Safely operate heavy equipment, including bulldozers, compactors, excavators, wheel loaders, graders, articulated dump trucks, telehandlers, and forklifts. Spread, compact, and cover waste materials to specified grades and compaction levels. Maintain proper slopes, grades, and cover on landfill areas. Load recyclable materials using telehandlers and forklifts. Receive and process recyclable materials, including commingled household recyclables, electronics, and cardboard. Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment. Experience in landfill, construction, or similar environments preferred. Valid driver's license required; CDL is a plus. Experience with preventive maintenance or light equipment repairs is a plus. Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work efficiently in a team environment. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
