Job Description

The Yard Switcher is responsible for efficiently and safely moving trailers and containers within a designated yard or terminal. This position plays a crucial role in organizing the flow of transportation and ensuring the timely transfer of goods.

Operate yard switcher equipment to move trailers and containers to specified locations.

Coordinate with dispatchers and other yard personnel to prioritize and execute trailer movements.

Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the yard switcher equipment to ensure safety and report any issues.

Maintain accurate records of trailer locations, arrivals, and departures.

Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including proper coupling and uncoupling of trailers.

Communicate effectively with truck drivers, warehouse staff, and other team members.

Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the yard.

Valid driver's license.

Proven experience operating yard switcher equipment or similar vehicles.

Strong knowledge of safety regulations and protocols related to yard operations.

Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse team. Physical Demands / Environmental Factors Ability to sit for extended periods and operate yard switcher equipment.

Physical strength and agility to perform basic maintenance tasks, such as connecting and disconnecting trailers.
