Job Description
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment, including cranes, excavators, and loaders to move and dismantle vehicles/equipment. This position is responsible for upgrading and sorting the scrap pile. Essential functions Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Operate heavy equipment including cranes, excavators, and loaders Move scrap and dismantle vehicles and equipment Salvage parts and scrap metal Prepare materials efficiently and safely for transportation Loading and unloading of material Maintain equipment in good working order by performing routine maintenance and repairs as needed Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance Performed other duties as assigned by management Competencies Strong problem solving skills Attention to detail Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with coworkers and supervisors professionally Ability to follow safety guidelines and regulations for the operation of heavy eqipment Excellent communications and documentation skills Physical demands Ability to stand, walk, climb, crouch, and kneel for extended periods of time. Strong handeye coordination and manual dexterity to operate heavy equipment and tools. Good vision and hearing to ensure safe operation Physical stamina and endurance to work in all weather conditions and for extended periods Ability to work at heights and in small spaces as needed Travel required N/A Required education and experience High School Diploma required Minimum 2 years of experience operating heavy equipment including cranes, excavators, loaders and bulldozers.
