Equipment Operator

We are a complete bark mulch supply company offering a wide variety of products, including compost, fresh sawdust, shavings, crushed concrete, and more. We strive to offer our customers quality products, affordable prices, and exemplary service. We are now accepting applications for an Equipment Operator. This is a full-time position and the candidate must be willing to work weekends and overtime as needed.

Essential Functions:

Operates equipment such as front-end loaders, fork lifts, skid steers, water trucks, etc. for a variety of operations. Operates equipment of various sizes and weights in the loading and unloading of various materials and supplies. Breaks out and loads asphalt, dirt, rock, and other materials onto large dump trucks or trailers. Operates equipment and vehicles in a safe, responsible manner in accordance with Louisiana State Traffic Laws and test requirements. Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to supervisor; clean equipment. Relates well with employees and customers at all levels and at all times in a professional and personable manner. Performs heavy manual tasks under varying and sometimes extreme weather conditions. Drives and operates a variety of equipment under varying and sometime extreme weather conditions.

Work Requirements:

Must be 18 years of age or older.• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check. Must maintain current driver's license that meets state requirements. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. Knowledge/Skill Requirements Knowledge in operating equipment. Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to equipment operations Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently under a variety of working conditions. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to operate equipment requiring skill and the exercise of independent judgment. Landscape knowledge a plus Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to manipulate objects or controls, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear. May require sitting for extended periods of time. Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, and the ability to adjust focus. Able to work in all weather conditions.
