Job Description

We are a busy Site Work and Foundation contractor looking for an experienced, hands-on Site Work Laborer who can run an excavator and handle all phases of residential site work — from demolition through final grading. Responsibilities Demolition of existing houses and structures using an excavator Excavation for new construction homes, including foundation digs Backfilling foundations Sub-slab preparation: grading and placing crushed stone before basement slab pours Sump pump pit installation Installation of drainage systems, including Cultec chamber systems Trench drain installation Sidewalk preparation (grading, forming sub-base) Rough and finish grading to prepare sites for landscaping Digging test pits General site labor: pipe laying, grade checking, hand digging, site cleanup Conduct daily inspections of equipment, perform routine greasing/maintenance checks, and report repair needs promptly Follow all safety protocols, including Dig Safe markouts and trench safety procedures, to maintain a secure work site Collaborate with the crew, other trades, and inspectors to keep projects on schedule Maintain accurate records of equipment hours and daily site activities Requirements Valid Massachusetts Class 2A Hoisting Engineer License Proven experience operating an excavator safely and efficiently Valid driver's license with reliable transportation Experience with residential demolition and new construction site work Knowledge of Dig Safe procedures and trench safety Ability to read grades and work from site plans Physically able to perform demanding outdoor labor in all seasons Mechanical aptitude — able to spot equipment issues and handle basic upkeep Strong work ethic, shows up on time, works well with a crew Preferred Qualifications (a plus, not required) Experience with water and sewer cut & caps Experience installing new water and sewer services OSHA 10 certification CDL license (a plus for transporting equipment) Experience operating other equipment (skid steer, dozer, roller, loader/backhoe) Familiarity with CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, or similar machinery
Pay:
$27.29 - $45.00 per hour
