Maintenance CraftsmanWater Hours:
Full-time (40) hours Pay rate: DPW- Class I
- up to $29.
Summary:
Operates one or more types of automotive equipment in the light, medium and heavy class and performs a variety of manual tasks in connection with such operations. Performs skilled labor duties in the construction, repair, and maintenance of water & sewer systems, highways & traffic systems, and buildings, parks & cemeteries. Performs related public works project work as required.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs skilled & manual labor work on the maintenance and replacement of water distribution system components, including water mains, water services, fire hydrants, water meters and appurtenances. Responsible for responding to emergency conditions at the treatment plants, pumping stations, distribution system and other Water Department emergencies as necessary.- Drives a variety of light, medium and heavy trucks, tractors and trailers and special heavy equipment.
- Assists in the construction, repair and maintenance of highways, drains, water & sewer systems, parks, cemeteries, and buildings and other City property requiring a high degree of skill.
Qualifications:
- Good skills in the operation of light, medium and heavy motor equipment under all types of weather conditions.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Possession of a minimum of a Grade 1 Water Distribution license in Massachusetts or ability to obtain this license within one year of hire.
- Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License.
- Possession of a valid hoisting machinery license issued by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
