The person hired will operate heavy equipment, CDL trucks, and perform manual labor work as required for all DPW construction, maintenance, and repair projects, as well as plowing, sanding and all other work as required. This position is required to be part of an on-call rotation and is part of a Union bargaining agreement. Depending on their qualifications, skills and training, this person will regularly operate Heavy Equipment such as backhoes, front-end loaders, CDL trucks, light trucks, light equipment (e.g., lawn mowers, snowblowers, sweepers, sidewalk machines, etc.) and hand/power/pneumatic tools. The employee is required to perform work outdoors in varying conditions, and must be able to be on call for emergency situations such as snow plowing, treating roads, emergency water main breaks, etc. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid CDL Class B (air brake endorsement) and an MA Hoisting License 2B. Experience with digging around utilities and in the roads is preferred. Hourly pay range between $25.82 to $30.84, depending on experience. Position is part of a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
