Job Description

Excavation and Utility company seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators. Project portfolio includes storm water management, water/sewer, and site work in the Baltimore/ Washington Metropolitan Areas. Excavator and Dozer Operators are preferred. Knowledge of GPS grading systems is preferred. Operators are responsible for daily maintenance of their machines. Must be able to get to and from jobsites within the Metro Area. Duties and Responsibilities - A Heavy Equipment Operator's primary responsibility is to complete assigned tasks safely and accurately using construction equipment. Typical Heavy Equipment Operator job duties include: Installing Trench Boxes and creating safe trenches. Inspecting equipment before and after use to ensure it's in good working order. Driving or controlling heavy equipment to complete tasks at the construction site Monitoring performance and adjusting settings as required to perform tasks correctly. Tracking scheduled maintenance of equipment and notifying their supervisor if maintenance is past due. Filling out Trucking Logs and loading Trucks Cleaning equipment tracks and cabs every day. Ability to hold a grade in a Dozer or Excavator Skills and Qualifications - To perform well in Heavy Equipment Operator careers, candidates need to possess certain skills. Some qualifications that can indicate quality candidates are: Knowledge of safety protocols and the procedures used to control heavy equipment. Coordination to use all the controls on pieces of equipment. Possessing enough strength to operate and clean tracks of heavy equipment. Problem-solving skills to diagnose issues with equipment. Strong oral communication skills to interact with other workers on the jobsite. Basic writing skills to accurately complete reports and other paperwork Good noncommercial driver's license to get to the jobsites.
