Description:

The Yard Operator performs a variety of duties and is responsible for operating; heavy equipment, light equipment to load, unload and process scrap materials. In addition, the equipment operator is responsible for buying, grading, sorting, and processing scrap metals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Load or unload scrap metal materials as needed Transport and load materials from one place to another Perform pre- and post-operation inspections on equipment and vehicles Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and vehicles Wash, lubricate and fuel equipment and vehicles Dismantle/disassemble or take apart components Utilize software for purchasing scrap metals Sorting, grading, and processing scrap metals Ensure a clean and orderly workplace; clean and prepare site by removing debris and possible hazards Maintain various records and/or logs Exercise excellent customer service while communicating and assisting our customers

Previous Education and Experience:
