Yard hostler/Shuttle Driver

Job Description:

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Yard Person to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various types of truck driving, including tractor-trailers and delivery vehicles. This role involves managing the yard operations, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vehicles and freight. The Yard Person will play a crucial role in maintaining the organization of our yard while adhering to safety protocols. Responsibilities Operate and maneuver various types of trucks/trailers including Yard hostlers, Day cabs, refrigerated trailers, and dry vans. Conduct routine inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition before and after use. Assist with route driving as needed, delivering goods to designated locations. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the yard area to promote safety and efficiency. Collaborate with team members to ensure timely delivery schedules are met. Safely shuttling trailers between Carthage and Frontenac as scheduled Performing yard operations, including trailer moves, staging, and yard checks in Frontenac Flexibility to cover alternating shifts and schedules as business demands Requirements Proven experience in truck driving, particularly with commercial vehicles such as tractor-trailers. Familiarity with manual transmission vehicles is preferred. Experience with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and other specialized trucks is a plus. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing yard operations. A valid commercial driver's license (CDL) is required for this position. Schedule:

This is a night shift float position , alternating between yard operations in Frontenac and shuttle runs starting in either Carthage or Frontenac . Hours vary depending on company needs.

Monday:

4:00 PM•3:00 AM, Yard in

Frontenac Tuesday:

6:00 AM•5:00 PM, Yard in

Frontenac Wednesday :

5:00 AM•4:00 PM, Shuttle Starts/ Ends from

Frontenac, KS Thursday:

5:00 AM•4:00 PM, Shuttle Starts/ Ends from Carthage, MO Additional days may be scheduled based on business needs.

Sample Night Shift Weekly Schedule:

Monday:

5:00 PM•4:00 AM, Yard in

Frontenac Tuesday:

4:00 PM•3:00 AM, Shuttle (starting in Frontenac or Carthage)

Wednesday:

2:00 PM•1:00 AM, Shuttle (opposite location of previous day)

Thursday:

3:00 PM•1:00 AM, Yard in Frontenac Additional days may be scheduled based on business needs.

Job Requirements:
