Job Description

Position Summary Flow Master Construction is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Heavy Equipment Operator to support storm water, underground utility, site development, grading, excavation, trenching, and pipe installation projects. This position is responsible for operating heavy construction equipment, performing excavation and grading activities, installing storm water and utility infrastructure, maintaining equipment, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to company quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience working on storm water systems, underground utilities, grading, trenching, excavation, and site preparation projects and is comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Key Responsibilities Equipment Operation Operate excavators, dozers, skid steers, loaders, rollers, backhoes, trenchers, and other heavy construction equipment. Perform site grading, excavation, trenching, and finish grading activities. Install storm water systems, culverts, drainage structures, and underground utility piping. Excavate and backfill trenches in accordance with project specifications and safety requirements. Read and interpret grade stakes, site plans, utility drawings, and project specifications. Monitor equipment gauges, controls, and indicators to ensure safe and efficient operation. Project Support Assist with underground utility installation, repair, replacement, and maintenance activities. Coordinate with foremen, supervisors, subcontractors, and crew members to ensure project success. Assist with loading, unloading, transportation, and placement of materials and equipment. Support project completion by maintaining productivity, quality, and schedule requirements. Respond to emergency repair situations when required. Equipment Maintenance Perform daily equipment inspections and pre-operation safety checks. Identify maintenance needs and report repair requirements promptly. Perform basic preventative maintenance and assist with equipment repairs when needed. Maintain equipment in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition. Safety & Compliance Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices. Ensure excavation, trenching, grading, and utility installation activities comply with safety standards. Participate in safety meetings and training programs. Report hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions immediately. Maintain a safe and organized work environment. Documentation Maintain accurate daily production reports. Record equipment usage, inspections, maintenance activities, and materials utilized. Complete all required project documentation accurately and timely. Supervisory Responsibilities May provide direction and assistance to laborers and junior equipment operators. Assist supervisors in coordinating work activities to ensure safe and efficient project completion. Required Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. Minimum three (3) years of experience operating heavy equipment on grading, excavation, storm water, underground utility, site development, or heavy civil construction projects. Ability to safely and efficiently operate multiple types of heavy construction equipment. Knowledge of excavation, trenching, grading, storm water, and underground utility installation practices. Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and grade stakes. Strong understanding of equipment maintenance and construction site safety. Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications Commercial Driver's License (CDL). OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification. Trenching and Excavation Safety Training. Confined Space Certification. Utility locating experience. GPS machine control and grade control experience. Finish grading experience. Storm water drainage installation experience. Underground utility installation experience. Physical Requirements Ability to safely operate heavy equipment for extended periods. Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, crouching, and reaching. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and humidity. Ability to work overtime and extended hours as project schedules require. Pay:
$22.00 - $36.00 per hour
