Direct, Full-time, Union A Day in the Yard When your shift starts, the yard is tight, active, and on a precise schedule. You'll conduct a quick walk-around and fluid check on your hostler, confirm radio comms, and review move priorities with your supervisor. From there, it's all about accuracy: safely spotting and repositioning large hazmat trailers in constrained spaces, keeping operations flowing without interrupting production. Throughout the night you'll log cGMP/ISO records, coordinate lot moves over a two-way radio, and, when needed, handle loading or unloading tasks using proper material handling techniques and PIT equipment like an electric forklift. Every move is deliberate—protecting people, product, and property while meeting timelines. What You'll Handle Operate standard highway and industrial trucks within company property; with proper certification, you may occasionally complete local deliveries to nearby STERIS facilities. Spot, position, and pull trailers from blocked or crowded areas per supervisor direction, safeguarding equipment, materials, and coworkers at all times. Load and/or unload materials on company-operated trucks as needed. Move and load hazardous waste as directed, following proper handling techniques on company, customer, or supplier property. Use electric forklifts or other PIT equipment when required. Perform daily care of assigned equipment: clean, check oil/water/battery levels, record findings on log sheets, and replenish as needed. Maintain written/electronic records in alignment with cGMP and ISO procedures; communicate lot moves and updates via two-way radio. Keep your equipment and surrounding work areas clean at all times. Must-Have Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. Current and valid Missouri CDL (A) license. Manual dexterity and good peripheral vision. Basic math, writing, and data entry skills (high school level). Ability to wear PPE as needed; read scales; work independently with minimal supervision; maneuver trailers in tight/crowded spaces; and read/understand written instructions, safety labels, and equipment manuals. Preferred Experience Class C CDL and/or hazmat/tanker certifications. Experience tracking manual moves via two-way radio. Strong verbal communication with team members. Basic truck maintenance skills. Experience operating electric forklifts. Physical & Work Conditions Lift, carry, and move up to ~60 lbs. Climb to heights of approximately 10 feet and sit for long periods. Good hand/eye coordination. Ability to gather and input quality and inventory control data in written or electronic formats. Must hold a valid Missouri CDL license or equivalent.
