Job Description

Job Title:
Loader Operator Job Description The Loader Operator safely operates a front-end loader to move and load materials such as gravel, sand, dirt, and rock, while supporting concrete production and crushing operations. This role combines equipment operation with basic maintenance and physical labor to keep production running efficiently and safely throughout the shift. Responsibilities Operate a front-end loader safely and efficiently throughout the workday. Load gravel, sand, dirt, and rock into semi-trucks according to production needs. Load material into the concrete mixer plant to support continuous production. Assist with basic maintenance of crusher and mixing machines as needed. Physically break up material jams in equipment when they occur, following safety procedures. Perform basic maintenance tasks on the loader and related equipment as required. Shovel material and clean up work areas as needed, including lifting up to 80 lbs. Lift and move materials weighing up to 70 lbs on a regular basis. Work outdoors in the loader for the entire shift in varying weather conditions. Support overtime and weekend work during busy months to meet production demands. Essential Skills Minimum of 6 months experience operating a front-end loader. Proven ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently. Experience with loading operations involving gravel, sand, dirt, and rock. Capability to perform general labor tasks, including shoveling and heavy lifting up to 70-80 lbs. Ability to assist with basic maintenance on crushing and mixing equipment. Willingness and physical ability to work outdoors for the entire shift. Reliability to work variable start times as early as 2:00 a.m. or 3:00 a.m. and standard hours of 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Commitment to following safety procedures and using required personal protective equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating additional heavy equipment such as excavators and dozers. Experience in general labor within construction, aggregates, or concrete production environments. Comfort working overtime and on Saturdays during busy summer months. Strong attention to detail when loading materials and maintaining equipment. Ability to work independently and stay productive with minimal supervision. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is entirely outdoors, with the Loader Operator working in the loader for the full shift in varying weather conditions. Typical hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the possibility of earlier start times as early as 2:00 a.m. or 3:00 a.m. Overtime may be required before regular shift times and on Saturdays during the busy summer months. The role involves regular heavy lifting of 70-80 lbs and physical tasks such as shoveling and clearing jams. The dress code includes jeans, a T-shirt, and steel-toed boots. Required safety gear, including a hard hat, safety glasses, and high-visibility shirt, is provided. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Billings, MT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
