Job Description
The Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment used in excavation, grading, site development, utility installation, and concrete construction activities. This position supports the successful completion of company projects by operating equipment, assisting field crews as needed, maintaining assigned equipment, and ensuring work is performed in accordance with company standards and safety requirements. Essential Job Functions
∙ Operate heavy equipment in a safe and productive manner.
∙ Perform excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling, and site preparation work as directed.
∙ Operate equipment including, but not limited to, excavators, skid steers, loaders, dozers, rollers, compactors, and backhoes.
∙ Follow grade stakes, site plans, and instructions provided by supervisors.
∙ Assist with concrete preparation and related construction activities when required.
∙ Conduct daily pre-operation and post-operation inspections of assigned equipment.
∙ Monitor equipment performance and report any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
∙ Perform routine equipment maintenance, including cleaning, fueling, and greasing.
∙ Work collaboratively with supervisors, laborers, truck drivers, subcontractors, and other team members to complete projects efficiently.
∙ Maintain a clean and organized work area and job site.
∙ Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and procedures.
∙ Utilize proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
∙ Complete assigned tasks within established project timelines while maintaining quality workmanship.
∙ Assist with general labor duties when equipment operation is not required. ∙ Knowledge of safe operating practices for heavy construction equipment.
∙ Knowledge of Hazard Safety Procedures.
∙ Basic understanding of excavation and construction methods.
∙ 2+ Years experience of Utility construction.
∙ 3+ Years of equipment experience. (Dozers, excavators, etc.)
∙ Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
∙ Strong attention to detail and awareness of surroundings.
∙ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
∙ Good communication and problem-solving skills.
∙ Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship. Minimum Qualifications
∙ Valid driver's license.
∙ Ability to operate construction equipment safely and effectively.
∙ Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
∙ Ability to meet the physical demands associated with construction work. Physical Requirements
∙ Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb throughout the workday.
∙ Ability to frequently enter and exit heavy equipment.
∙ Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
∙ Ability to work in outdoor environments exposed to dust, noise, uneven terrain, and changing weather conditions.
Pay:
$28.58 - $34.42 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
