Job Description

Job Summary Join our energetic team as an Equipment Operator to help ensure road safety and development by operating heavy machinery. This role offers an exciting opportunity to handle a variety of tasks, from moving earth and materials to operating specialized equipment, ensuring projects run smoothly and safely. Your mechanical skills and road-building experience will be essential to maintaining efficient operations and producing high-quality results. While experience in county operations, road construction, and maintenance is helpful, it is not required. Paid time off includes 24 days annually, plus 12 Federal Holidays, totaling over 7 weeks. Duties Operate heavy equipment, including road graders, dozers, loaders, backhoes, and other machinery, for grading, lifting, and material handling. Operate various types of trucks, including belly dump trucks, dump trucks, and water trucks. Conduct regular equipment inspections and maintenance to ensure compliance with safety standards and perform basic maintenance or coordinate repairs as needed. Diligently follow safety protocols at active job sites to prevent accidents and ensure regulatory compliance. Assist in managing and maintaining state-required road signs and rights-of-way. Keep accurate records of equipment usage, inspections, and maintenance to ensure accountability and compliance with safety standards. Experience Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment, including graders, dozers, loaders, backhoes, and similar machinery, is preferred but not required. Knowledge of road maintenance, building operations, and safety procedures, or a willingness to learn them. Mechanical knowledge required to maintain and troubleshoot heavy equipment can be taught. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) or willingness to obtain one, with experience operating a variety of trucks, including tractor-trailers, dump trucks, and water trucks. Knowledge of Caterpillar (CAT) equipment or comparable brands is beneficial. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining safety and quality standards. $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
