Job Title:
Dozer Operator - Flats Job Description This role operates heavy equipment to move and haul dirt, clear vegetation, and build access roads on a large-scale photovoltaic (PV) solar construction site. The position focuses on safe and efficient operation of dozers and related equipment to support civil dirt work in an outdoor, industrial environment. Responsibilities Operate dozers and other heavy equipment to move and haul dirt across the project site. Clear the mesa of shrubs, weeds, cactus, and other vegetation to prepare the land for construction activities. Construct and maintain access roads for a large-scale PV solar site, ensuring they are safe and functional for ongoing project use. Perform grading, trenching, and digging tasks according to project plans and specifications. Follow directions from site supervision and civil contractors to complete assigned earthwork and site preparation tasks. Inspect equipment before and after use, reporting any maintenance needs or safety concerns. Work safely at all times, following site safety protocols, traffic patterns, and equipment operation guidelines. Adapt to changing site conditions and project priorities while maintaining productivity and quality of work. Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper staging of equipment and materials. Collaborate with other equipment operators and crew members to coordinate work and avoid conflicts or delays. Essential Skills Proven experience operating heavy equipment for civil contractors in an industrial or construction environment. Strong proficiency in operating dozers for dirt moving, hauling, and grading activities. Hands-on experience with civil dirt work, including trenching, grading, and digging. Ability to operate equipment such as bobcats and similar machinery safely and efficiently. Solid understanding of earthwork operations and site preparation for large construction projects. Ability to follow site plans, instructions, and safety procedures with attention to detail. Physical capability to work long hours in outdoor conditions and handle the demands of heavy equipment operation. Reliable attendance and the flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends, as project needs require. Additional Skills & Qualifications Back ground in industrial construction or large-scale infrastructure projects. Experience supporting large-scale PV solar or similar renewable energy sites. Familiarity with working on mesas or uneven terrain and adjusting equipment operation accordingly. Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and adherence to site safety standards. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members to coordinate work. Why Work Here? The schedule typically runs Monday through Saturday and may include Sundays, with at least 10-hour days and sometimes up to 12 hours as needed, totaling 60+ hours per week. The schedule is subject to change, so flexibility is essential. You will operate heavy equipment such as dozers and bobcats on uneven terrain, following strict safety protocols and site procedures while working in standard construction attire and appropriate personal protective equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Farmington, NM. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
