Job Description

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for excavating and moving diatomaceous earth, dirt, rock, sand, and other raw materials in a safe and efficient manner. We will sponsor any mine heavy equipment operator so he/she may obtain the Commercial Driver's License. Preferred current Nevada Class I CDL Driver's License with endorsements for Doubles and Tankers with DOT Physical and Medical Card (kept current and up to date). Gather and analyze information skillfully and with alternate solutions in mind when necessary Up to date knowledge of laws and compliance regulations. CDL experience preferred. The ability to work with a high degree of autonomy. Strong attention to detail. Possess an excellent operation and safety record. Consistently at work and on time; meet schedules and deadlines on time. Demonstrate the ability to adapt to changes in the work environment Can work any shift. Aptitude for Heavy Equipment Operation. Fluidly and effectively move machine, create and move stockpiles, and dig, lift, swing, and dump contents of shovel into truck, car, conveyor, hopper, or stockpile. Responsible for the safe operation of equipment, follow all traffic rules on and off company property. Meet and exceed productivity standards in a timely manner and adapt to changes in the work environment. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Maintain telephone or radio contact with Supervisor to receive instructions. Inspect equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water. Assist in performance of emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, etc. Inspect equipment for defects before, during, and after shifts and submit report indicating equipment condition. Follow all federal and state safety regulations and company safety policies and procedures. Keep the equipment clean and presentable. Perform equipment maintenance as required. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both written and verbal, in the English language when performing job requirements.
