Heavy Equipment Operator.

Job Type:
Full-time, non-exempt.
Hours:
Monday-Friday 7:00AM-4:00PM, overtime and Saturdays as needed 8:00AM-12:00PM.
Compensation:
$ 19.00-22.50/hour, based on skills and experience.
Responsibilities:
Safe Handling and/or moving material. Knowledge of the excavator/magnet/grapple loading requirements; material shipping specifications; weight thresholds. Effective communication with all site personnel. Maintain daily logs of equipment usage, maintenance, etc. Daily maintenance of equipment. Identify, report, correct and/or prevent hazards. Perform tasks maintaining all health, safety and environmental rules and ensure work is completed in a safe and responsible manner. Ability to sit for long periods of time. Handle and manipulate objects on a repetitive basis. Work outside in the elements regardless of the season.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Heavy equipment certification a plus. 2+ years of heavy equipment operation experience. Organizational skills, able to multitask. Self-motivated, ability to work independently. Team player, able to get along with a diverse group.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Ability to lift / push / pull 50-75 lbs alone or with assistance as needed. Standing for extended periods of time. Sitting when operating equipment. Ability to reach with hands and arms. Ability to use both hands regularly with enough dexterity to safely operate basic hand and power tools. Awareness of surroundings (able to see, hear, talk), moving equipment, employees, etc. Move about a salvage yard on uneven terrain. Expected to participate in required training sessions, presentations, and meetings. Exposure to elements and / or non-climate-controlled environments where temperatures and weather extremes (heat, cold, rain) may be encountered. Work may take place in an industrial environment, with noise, dust and fumes. Noise level in the work environment is moderate; hearing protection is always provided to employees by the company.
