Telehandler (Lull Forklift) Operator Job Description The Telehandler (Lull Forklift) Operator safely operates a telescopic forklift on a large commercial construction site to move, lift, and position materials. This role supports multiple trades by delivering materials to various elevations and work areas while strictly following safety regulations and site protocols. The position offers steady, long-term work with opportunities for overtime in a fast-paced construction environment. Responsibilities Operate telehandler (lull) equipment to lift, move, and place materials such as pallets, steel, lumber, and other construction supplies. Transport materials to elevated work areas, including upper floors and rooftops, ensuring accurate and timely delivery. Load and unload delivery trucks in coordination with site logistics and site supervisors. Perform daily equipment inspections, including checking fluids, tires, forks, boom, and safety systems, and maintain accurate equipment logs. Follow all OSHA regulations and site safety policies at all times while operating equipment and performing related tasks. Communicate clearly with signal persons, riggers, and site supervisors during lifts to ensure safe and coordinated operations. Assist with site housekeeping, general labor duties, and site clean up when equipment operation is not required. Maintain constant awareness of surroundings to avoid hazards, including power lines, uneven terrain, structures, and personnel. Ensure proper load handling by monitoring weight limits, load stability, and secure placement of materials. Report any mechanical issues, safety hazards, incidents, or near misses immediately to the appropriate site personnel. Use hand tools and power tools as needed to support material handling and general construction tasks. Support construction, roofing, landscaping, civil construction, and building maintenance activities through safe and efficient material handling. Essential Skills Proven experience operating a telehandler or lull forklift on commercial construction sites. Valid equipment operator certification, OSHA-compliant or equivalent preferred. Knowledge of load charts, lift capacities, and safe operating procedures for telehandler equipment. Ability to read site plans and follow detailed lift instructions. Strong understanding of job site safety practices and OSHA safety standards. Demonstrated skill in telehandler operation, lull forklift operation, and off-road forklift operation. Experience with construction material handling and heavy equipment operation. Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively as part of a site team. Ability to perform physically demanding work in a fast-paced outdoor construction environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in general laborer duties, including site construction and site clean up. Experience in roofing, landscaping, civil construction, or building maintenance. Familiarity with construction material handling processes and site logistics. Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively. OSHA 10 certification, or willingness to obtain OSHA 10 training. Work Environment This role is based on an outdoor commercial construction site with exposure to varying weather conditions throughout the year. The setting is fast-paced and physically demanding, requiring frequent movement, climbing, and material handling. The standard shift runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the possibility of extended hours or occasional weekend work depending on project schedules. Work involves operating heavy equipment such as telehandlers and off-road forklifts, as well as using hand tools and power tools. The environment emphasizes strict adherence to safety protocols and OSHA standards at all times. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Pattersonville, NY.
