Job Description

Heavy Equipment and Steel Yard Laborer We are seeking a dependable and safety-minded Steel Yard Laborer for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Youngstown, Ohio. This role is ideal for individuals looking to contribute to a thriving steel manufacturing operation and grow with a reputable company. This is a hands-on role that offers a great opportunity to gain experience in heavy industrial environments using Skid steers, front loaders and any other heavy equipment needed Ready to take the next step? Hours:
1st Shift, 06:30 AM - 02:30 PM, Monday through Friday plus overtime when needed
Pay:
$17.00 per hour-$20 an hour
Key Responsibilities:
Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move materials, parts, and finished products Transport raw materials such as steel plates and cut parts throughout the shop and yard Assist with inventory management, ensuring accurate counts of incoming and outgoing materials Load and unload trucks, verifying shipments against documentation Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety regulations Report equipment issues or unsafe conditions to supervision immediately Follow all safety protocols and maintain situational awareness around moving machinery and coworkers
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED Valid Ohio Driver's License Strong mathematical aptitude and hand-eye coordination Reliable, dependable, and willing to learn company processes Ability to follow detailed instructions from supervision Forklift experience preferred Experience in shipping, receiving, picking, or packing preferred Willingness to work any shift as needed Nice to
Have Skills:
Forklift operation Welding or heavy industrial experience Steel and heavy manufacturing knowledge
Preferred Education and Experience:
Skid Steer, Front Loader, Bulldozer Forklift experience (preferred)
Other Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and perform physical labor throughout the shift Ability to stand or sit for extended periods Capable of climbing in and out of forklifts safely Tolerance for working in varying temperatures Ability to respond quickly to sounds and potential hazards Proper use of personal protective equipment at all times
