We are looking for a highly experienced heavy equipment operator to work on buildings, roads and other construction projects, including prevailing wage projects. Experience in working on relevant projects and using shovels, grade checking equipment, pipe laying equipment is a bonus. You must have physical strength, endurance and work well with your hands. Being good in collaboration and following instructions and safety rules are important. We are also looking for someone to grow with our company as we are a Certified WBE/DBE company. We do also offer prevailing wage sites depending on your qualifications. Prevailing wage jobsites will be available this spring and summer to the people we are hiring now. Prevailing wage rate for an equipment operator at this time is $61.61 plus benefits. Responsibilities Assist tradesmen and machine operators in construction and excavation projects Dig and locate underground utilities to tie into Unload and carry materials at construction sites Use equipment to load gravel and dirt to and from site Prepare and apply construction materials to construct underground sewer, septic, cable, water and electric (e.g cement) Smooth and level dirt, gravel or other materials Clean site from debris and discarded material Place traffic signs where appropriate Use flagger placards to direct traffic occasionally Skills Proven experience as construction worker or laborer Experience in operating equipment like trenching equipment, SkidSteer, compactors, sawzall, drills, pneumatic tools, etc. Knowledge of applying adhesives to pvc pipes Knowledge of basic engineering and construction principles and methods Able to work in a team Able to read instructions and blueprints when needed Very good knowledge of English (spoken and written) Excellent balance and eye-hand coordination High school diploma or equivalent
