Aerotek is hiring for Heavy Equipment Spotters with WEEKLY pay! Day Shift, M-F Travel Work home on weekends Job Description This role supports large-scale power line construction by preparing and maintaining safe access paths for heavy equipment in wetland and woodland environments. You will work outdoors on multi-mile projects, installing and moving crane mats, assisting equipment operators, and restoring the job site as work progresses. The position requires consistent travel to various work sites, physical stamina, and a strong focus on safety and communication. Responsibilities Set, position, and move large crane mats (approximately 15 feet long and 8 feet wide) to support skid steers, drilling equipment, and other heavy machinery. Work along a 5-mile power line construction corridor, installing mats at multiple locations, then returning to remove and reset them as the project advances. Align crane mats accurately, secure them with locking pins, and remove pins when repositioning mats to support heavy equipment operations in woodlands and wetlands. Ensure mats are placed to prevent heavy equipment from getting stuck in soft or wet ground conditions. Lift, carry, and move 50-pound buckets of pins and other materials as needed throughout the workday. Rake and grade soil after mats are moved, then place grass seed and hay to restore disturbed areas. Act as a spotter for equipment operators, maintaining clear visibility and awareness of surroundings to promote safe movement of machinery. Direct and communicate effectively with equipment operators to coordinate mat placement, equipment movement, and safe work practices. Perform general job site cleanup, including removal of debris and materials, to maintain an orderly and safe work area. Travel regularly to job sites across multiple states and maintain reliable attendance and performance throughout the project. Essential Skills Previous experience working on construction sites. Hands-on experience working around heavy equipment, ideally including skid steers. Demonstrated safety awareness on construction sites, especially around active machinery. Ability to work outdoors for the entire shift in varying weather conditions, including rain and other elements. Capability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds repeatedly during the workday. Comfort working on your feet all day in uneven, wet, and rugged terrain. Willingness and ability to travel to work sites in New York, West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Familiarity with crane mats or similar ground stabilization systems. Experience spotting for operators and supporting drilling or power line construction projects. Ability to describe previous heavy equipment exposure, including types of equipment, project details, and timelines. Why Work Here? You will join a field-based team that works on impactful infrastructure projects while gaining hands-on experience with heavy equipment operations and specialized wetland construction methods. The role offers regular travel to different project locations, with hotel accommodations provided and a daily per diem to support you while on the road. You can expect a straightforward, performance-focused environment where safety, reliability, and strong work ethic are recognized and valued. Work Environment This position is entirely outdoors in a wetlands and woodlands environment along a 5-mile power line construction corridor.
