Heavy Equipment Mechanic This position reports directly to the General Manager/Site Manager. Description Seneca Landfill, Inc. is seeking a heavy equipment diesel mechanic to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy diesel equipment. The position will be located at Seneca Landfill, 421 Hartmann Road, Evans City, PA 16033. Work hours vary, but generally they follow the operating hours of the landfill which are Monday through Friday 7 AM through 5:30 PM and Saturday 7 AM through 11 AM. Responsibilities Safely and efficiently perform assigned responsibilities to include such duties as: Assess, diagnose, and repair heavy diesel equipment such as dozers, excavators, rock trucks, and compactors. Service light service equipment and light & heavy trucks. Typical repairs include but are not limited to hydraulic, fuel, exhaust, brake, suspension, electrical, HVAC, and emission systems. Perform preventative maintenance and inspections. Able to follow written and verbal instructions. Adaptable to changing work environments, competing demands, and can deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events. Assist with minor repairs, windshield wipers/lights etc. Inspect equipment for leaks. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Experience, Education, Certification Required:
Minimum 3 years' experience of troubleshooting and repairing problems with heavy diesel equipment.
Preferred:
Heavy equipment repair Certificates from Trade School Valid Driver's License High school diploma or G.E.D. Job Requirements Possession of a valid PA Driver's License and ability to legally operate a motor vehicle. Ability to work outside during all weather conditions all year round and lift at least 50 pounds. Ability to adhere to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise. Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules that are set forth; promotes the Company's safety standards; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness. Employees must provide their own safety-approved work boots. Special Requirements Employees must adhere to all site safety rules and regulations. Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen. Ability to sit/stand, walk, climb, bend/twist, crouch/crawl, and push/pull required.
