Job Description
Job Overview The Equipment Operator - Auction Support plays a crucial role in the seamless execution of auction events by contributing to the setup, cleanup, loading, unloading, and organization of equipment and materials throughout the auction process. This position requires a safety-conscious and motivated individual capable of operating forklifts, telehandlers, and other equipment to ensure the efficient movement of auction inventory. While forklift or heavy equipment experience is preferred, on-the-job training may be provided for the right candidate. The ideal candidate enjoys physical, hands-on work, thrives outdoors in all weather conditions, and takes pride in staying productive and helping the team succeed. Responsibilities Equipment Operation Operate forklifts, telehandlers, and other equipment safely and efficiently Load and unload trucks, trailers, shipping containers, and customer vehicles Move and stage equipment, building materials, and auction inventory throughout the yard Assist with organizing and positioning items for upcoming auctions Auction Setup & Cleanup Assist in the setup and breakdown of auction events Help maintain an organized, efficient, and clean auction yard Ensure equipment and work areas are prepared before and after sales Safety & Equipment Care Follow all company safety procedures and operating guidelines Conduct routine equipment checks and report mechanical issues or damage promptly Maintain awareness of surroundings to prevent accidents or delays Promote a safety-first culture within the team Teamwork & Communication Collaborate with yard staff and auction team members to keep operations running smoothly Communicate professionally with customers while assisting with loading and pickup Adapt to changing priorities and fast-paced auction environments What We're Looking For Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions Ability to stay active throughout the day, including climbing on and off equipment Ability to lift and carry items up to 35 lbs. Strong work ethic, reliability, and accountability Team-oriented mindset with good communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience operating forklifts, telehandlers, or similar equipment Forklift or heavy equipment certification Experience loading trucks or handling materials in construction, warehouse, farming, or similar industries General familiarity with equipment or machinery Ideal Candidate Traits Enjoys hands-on, physical work and running equipment daily Comfortable with repetitive tasks and consistent workflows Self-motivated and productive without constant supervision Calm and efficient during busy auction days Positive attitude with a "get it done" mentality Works well in a fast-moving team environment
