Job Title:
Heavy Equipment Operator Job Description This role involves operating heavy equipment on a new construction project, with a primary focus on skid loader operation and related excavation activities. You will support site development by safely and efficiently performing earthwork and material handling tasks on an outdoor job site. Responsibilities Operate skid loaders and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently on a commercial construction site. Perform site excavation, grading, and earthmoving activities according to project plans and directions. Operate excavators, rock trucks, skid steers, and loaders as needed to support daily construction operations. Load, move, and place materials such as soil, aggregate, and debris in a controlled and efficient manner. Conduct basic pre-operation inspections of equipment and report any mechanical issues or safety concerns. Follow all site safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area. Collaborate with site supervisors and crew members to complete tasks on schedule and to quality standards. Adapt to changing site conditions and tasks while maintaining a high level of attention to detail. Essential Skills At least 2+ years of construction experience operating heavy equipment. Proven experience operating skid loaders on commercial construction projects. Hands-on experience with excavators, rock trucks, skid steers, and loaders. Strong understanding of site excavation practices and earthwork operations. Ability to follow instructions, site plans, and safety guidelines consistently. Capability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for the full workday. Reliable attendance and ability to work the scheduled hours of 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience on new construction sites performing excavation and site preparation. Comfort working with a range of heavy construction equipment in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with supervisors and crew members. Work Environment This position is based on new construction sites focused on excavation and site development work. All work takes place outdoors, so you should be comfortable working in a range of weather conditions. The typical schedule runs from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. You will regularly operate heavy equipment such as skid loaders, excavators, rock trucks, skid steers, and loaders on active construction sites with standard construction attire and appropriate personal protective equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of York, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
