EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

Construction Department (Work Order Crew) Performs semi-skilled and skilled work in the installation and construction of water and sewer lines and appurtenances; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. Acts as lead worker of a crew; participates in the work of the crew installing pipes, pump stations, taps, meters, etc.; Acts as supervisor when required; Installs water and sewer lines, wet taps, bores under roads, small taps, individual grinder pump stations, fire hydrants, cross connection devices and valves; Tests lines to correct pressure; ensures lines chlorinated and valves are closed; Ensures all repair and maintenance work is done in accordance to Authority standards; Ensures project landscaping is completed according to requirements; Maintains stock on vehicles in orderly manner; Moves heavy equipment from each job site; Operates track hoe, tractors, back-hoe, loader, bull dozier, trencher, air hammer, tapping machine and trucks to move large equipment and mechanical equipment in connection with the above tasks; Restores roadside work area along DOT RW and Horry County's satisfaction, and landscaping yards; Maintains all maintenance on heavy equipment; Digs constantly with other utilities in the same ditch as pipe, fiber optic cables and overhead lines; Operates large equipment in congested areas and in close proximity of vehicle traffic; Performs related tasks as required. Knowledge of the tools, materials and equipment used in the installation, replacement, maintenance and repair of water and/or sewer lines; knowledge of a variety of maintenance and manual tasks involved in the installation, maintenance, repair and replacement of water and/or sewer lines and appurtenances; knowledge in the use of common hand and power tools; thorough knowledge of the safe use and operation and preventive maintenance of common automotive and mechanical equipment; ability to proficiently operate back-hoe and other construction equipment; ability to perform manual and semi-skilled labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions; ability to perform strenuous manual labor under all weather conditions in the field; ability to lift 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; ability to bend, reach and stand for extended periods of time, climb ladders, twist, sit, kneel, crawl, squat and walk; and ability to drive a vehicle daily. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED and 2 years' experience in the maintenance, repair and/or construction of water and sewer lines including experience operating heavy equipment. Possession of a CDL license according to state of residence. Airbrakes endorsement and hazardous materials endorsement may be required. Title advancements and/or promotions to various positions depend on an individual's job performance, knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience and other special requirements. There is no guarantee of career progression to these or any other positions at the Authority. •

Senior Heavy Equipment Operator:

$22.96+ per hour •

Construction Crew Leader:

$25.25+ per hour

THIS POSITION IS OPEN ON A WORK ORDER CREW IN THE CONSTRUCTION DEPARTMENT. APPLICANTS WHO DO NOT MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION MAY BE CONSIDERED, BUT IF SELECTED THEY WOULD BE PAID ONE PAY GRADE BELOW THE MINIMUM UNTIL THEY SATISFY THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS. SALARY RANGE IS

$20.87 - $31.30 PER
