Dozer Operator Job Description The Dozer Operator performs fine grading and earthwork for residential and commercial site development projects while operating GPS-equipped Komatsu and CAT bulldozers. This role supports large residential subdivision developments and commercial job sites, balancing equipment operation with manual labor tasks to ensure accurate site preparation, curb and gutter grading, and underground piping support. The Dozer Operator works closely with field crews to deliver projects efficiently, safely, and according to specifications on undeveloped land. Responsibilities Perform fine grading for residential and commercial site development projects with a high level of accuracy. Operate Komatsu and CAT bulldozers equipped with GPS Topcon systems to complete grading tasks. Support grading operations on large residential subdivision developments and commercial job sites. Assist with underground piping installation and related site preparation activities. Maintain an approximate 50/50 split between operating heavy equipment and performing manual labor tasks. Execute curb and gutter grading with precision to meet project specifications and quality standards. Collaborate closely with construction crews to ensure projects are completed efficiently and on schedule. Follow site plans, grading specifications, and instructions from supervisors to achieve desired elevations and contours. Work on undeveloped land with no existing structures or active home construction, adapting to changing site conditions. Participate in a seat test on an active site to demonstrate dozer operating skills prior to or during onboarding. Attend and complete an 8-week academy program held on Mondays to build and refine operating and safety skills. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures while operating heavy equipment and performing manual tasks. Conduct basic equipment checks and communicate any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel. Essential Skills At least 3 years of heavy equipment operating experience. Proficiency in operating heavy equipment, specifically dozers. Fine grading expertise for residential and commercial site development. Demonstrated ability to perform precise curb and gutter grading. Experience using GPS dozer technology, including GPS Topcon systems. Ability to balance equipment operation with hands-on labor and site support in approximately a 50/50 split. Strong understanding of construction site practices and grading operations. Capability to work effectively on large subdivision developments and commercial job sites. Ability to work safely and efficiently on undeveloped land with varying terrain. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating Komatsu and CAT bulldozers. Experience in construction and site development projects. Willingness to complete a seat test on an active site as part of the evaluation process. Commitment to attend and successfully complete an 8-week academy program scheduled on Mondays. Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with field crews. Work Environment The work environment centers on outdoor construction sites, primarily on undeveloped land without existing structures or active home construction. Dozer Operators use heavy equipment such as Komatsu and CAT bulldozers equipped with GPS Topcon technology to complete grading tasks. During warmer months, operators can expect to work approximately 55-60 hours per week, while workloads may decrease to around 35-40 hours per week during winter months. Work is performed in varying weather and ground conditions typical of construction sites, requiring adherence to safety practices and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and attire suitable for field work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Greer, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $36.00/hr.
