An Operating Engineer or Heavy Equipment Operator drives and operates heavy equipment used in quarries, construction sites, landfills, refuse and recycling centers, or ports. Heavy Equipment may include, but is not limited to, bulldozers, excavators, paving equipment and pile drivers.

Job Description
Responsibilities for Heavy Equipment Operator Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Operate mobile heavy equipment of various sizes and types (front end loader, excavator, haul truck, grapple and magnet material handlers). Communicates over radio with team members for traffic coordination, production, and safety procedures. Perform daily inspections on equipment and report any defects or needed repairs to supervisor. Clean equipment as needed. Greet customers coming into the yard and direct them to the proper location to unload materials from their vehicles. Inspect material brought in by our customers for existence of non-acceptable items and ensure that those prohibited materials are not left on Company property. Examples are propane tanks, batteries, etc. Interact with customers and team members to facilitate a safe and productive yard environment. Onsite training is available Qualifications for Heavy Equipment Operator Experience using a front-end loader, mini-excavator, backhoe, track hoe, or scrap handler in an industrial/outdoor work environment. Knowledge of heavy-equipment operating principles. Ability to operate equipment under varying working conditions. Mechanical background a plus. Ability to effectively communicate in English. Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency. Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations. Ability to communicate effectively with others and coordinate work activities as a team. Work flexible hours including days, evenings and weekends. Rotating day/night 12 hour shifts 7-7. Benefits Medical and dental are just the beginning.
